All my bags are packed and I’m ready to go…

April 29, 2007 at 1:50 am | Posted in General Knitting | 6 Comments

We’re leaving tomorrow for the Sea Socks Cruise (Finally, I need a Vacation!). I’m all packed, no more stressing about that, let’s hope I don’t forget anything!  I’ve got the Camera, and I think i’ll be able to post on the Ship, so look out for a on-board post. Have a nice week, my friends. I know I will. I shall return with tons of yarn, yay!

Boku who?

April 26, 2007 at 7:20 pm | Posted in General Knitting | 4 Comments

I got the Boku yarn I ordered the other day, and started my scarf, but I don’t like it all that much. So, I threw it off to the side and started something new.

Wow, I’m so white. I need to get me Self-Tan on before I leave for the Cruise…

I went to my LYS and bought a skein of Collinette Jitterbug to make socks. I’m using the leftovers from that pair I made my sister for contrasting heels and toes.

I’m almost all ready for the Cruise. I’ve got all my knitting stuff ready (almost) and I went shopping the other day and got “Cruise wear”. I’m so ready for a vacation.

Boku, where are you?

April 23, 2007 at 3:09 am | Posted in General Knitting | 3 Comments

Thanks for the lovely comments on my Wicked Sweater. I appreciate you all. I have not yet worn my sweater, it’s currently sitting folded up on the floor next to me. I just have to find the right outfit to wear with it, then I might wear it to school or something.

I’m still on a  sweater High, and I decided that my next will be Something Red, by Miss Wendy (Knit and Tonic). I’ve always loved it. I think I’m going to make it with long sleeves. I’ll have to wait until I can buy yarn for it, I’ve been saving money like crazy for the Sea Socks Cruise (WE LEAVE IN ONE WEEK!!). I’ll probably buy yarn for the sweater while yarn shopping in San Fransisco, Victoria, and Vancouver. Dudes, I’m so excited. I really need a vacation. I took a look at the Virtual Tours and Onboard videos for our cruise ship, I’m so stoked! Yay!

So, in between finishing my Wicked Sweater and leaving for the Cruise, I’ve had a gap in my knitting. I don’t want to start anything too big before we leave, and I’ll be knitting mostly socks on the cruise, so I need something little and fun to knit for this week before we leave. I ordered 2 balls of Plymouth Boku for a Child’s Rainbow Scarf from “Last Minute Knitted Gifts”, now I just have to wait for it to be delivered, I’m thinking it will be here… tomorrow?

Yarn: Plymouth Encore Worsted, 4 skeins in color #54
Needles: US Size 8 32″ Circular and Double Pointed Needles
Pattern: Wicked, from Zephyr Style

Well, Roni, you where right. This took me exactly one week to make. I started it at Knit Night at the yarn store last Thursday and casted off and wove in my ends while babysitting this morning.

Do I Love it? Sadly, no. It’s slightly too big, and I don’t think it’s very flattering. Do I like it? Yeah. Will I wear it? Probably.

This sweater was fun to knit, though. I loved the cable ribbing. I left off the Kangaroo Pocket on the front, and opted for Cable ribbing at the bottom instead of Seed stitch. I mean, if the collar and the sleeves are in the Cable Crossover ribbing, why make the Hem seed stitch? I knit the 40-43″ size.

Now, any ideas for my next sweater?

Wicked progress.

When you last saw my Wicked Sweater, it was just a wee bit of cable ribbing. Well, here ya go:

Lots o’ progress. I’ve seperated the sleeves from the body (finally) and now I’m working on 5″ of straight Stockinette Stitch before Waist shaping. I’m moving right along! I’m so excited about being a sweater knitter. I’m taking baby steps into it, though. First was the Emerald Sweater, which was knit on large needles and yarn so it went quickly. This sweater is more of a standard gauge for a sweater, but it has short sleeves. After this, I think I might be able to knit a whole sweater (with sleeves) in not such a bulky gauge. Yay!

I feel like I’ve been thanking you a lot lately!

A huge THANK YOU and a big hug to all of you that watched me on Knitty Gritty and told me that they thought I did well, Man I was nervous! Yup Yup, fun stuff. So, thanks for the nice Comments and Emails and Phone Calls. I love you guys! So, what’s next for me? Well, I don’t know. I kinda have a Dream to write a book of patterns, but I have no Idea how to get published, so maybe it will stay a dream for a while.

So, I went to Knit Night at the LYS last night, bought yarn, and started my Wicked Sweater.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. It’s not red… and it’s not Cascade 220. I know, They didn’t have the color I wanted, so I opted for the cheaper Plymouth Encore Worsted. I really like this yarn, It’s soft and machine washable. And, I bought it in my favorite color, so I’m a happy camper.

And because it’s Friday and I have nothing better to do, a Meme.

Turn on your Music Player (iPod, iTunes, Winamp, whatever) on random and list the first 10 songs that come up. Ok!
1. Should I Stay or Should I Go (The Clash) Woo! Pretty much my favorite song. Seriously.
2. Paper Lantern (Green Day)
3. Mood Rings (Relient K)
4. Just Can’t Get Enough (Depeche Mode)
5. Wake Up-Acoustic (Coheed and Cambria)
6. God Only Knows-Live (The Beach Boys)
7. How Soon is Now? (The Smiths)
8. Turn The Beat Around (Gloria Estefan)… Guilty Pleasure.
9. I’m Not Down (The Clash)
10. Wear My Ring Around Your Neck (Elvis Presley)

What are you guys listening to?

Watch me on TV TOMORROW!

Yep, my Knitty Gritty Episode airs Tomorrow! Click here for all the details! Where I live, it will be on at 11 o’clock (Pacific Time), so set your Tivo’s or whatever you do.

Thanks for all the nice comments on my Emerald Sweater, I wore it to school yesterday and it was perfect, I love it. It made me all inspired to knit another Sweater, so next up is Wicked, from Zephyr Style. I’m super exiced to start it, but I have to wait until Thursday until I can get the yarn for it. I’m using Cascade 220 (Big shock there, it’s only my favorite yarn ever). I’m thinking of a Dark reddish Burgundy color.

I never wear red, I never knit with red, so I’m stepping out of my norm here. I was going to get a blue or teal, but then I thought “Nah.”

(No Worries, guys, I’m wearing a shirt under it, it just blends in)

Yarn: Wool Ease Chunky. I have never used this yarn before, but it was cheap and I got gauge with it, and it turned out pretty warm, but that’s a good thing. Nice yarn, no big complaints.

Pattern: Emerald from Knitty.com. Great pattern, easy to knit, SUPER quick (5 days?!)

Size 10 needles

Yeah, fastest sweater ever. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I had Spring Break this week and nothing else to do but knit. I always complained that I couldn’t knit a sweater, that I didn’t have the Stamina, but if all sweaters could be knit in 5 days, there would be hope.

I only modified it a little bit. I changed the cable pattern so the cables twisted into the center, rather than the way the pattern had you do it, which made them all twist the same direction. I also did 3 buttons down the front instead of just one big one. And that’s about it.

I love this sweater, it’s comfy and warm, and it fits nicely. Maybe I’ll wear it to school tomorrow!!

Oh yeah, and I hope you all had a blessed and happy Easter!

Wowza

Check it out! It’s almost a whole sweater! I just finished joining the sleeves, now I have to do the yoke and the shawl collar. I think I’ll have it done before the cruise, don’t you?   🙂

Say hello to the Emerald Sweater.

(I can’t get the picture link to work, so click here to see it larger.)

I figured out what my next big project is, the Emerald sweater from Knitty.com. It’s going super fast, too. That picture is of about 1 and a half days work. My goal is to finish it by the Cruise on the 29th. I’m almost done with the waist shaping decreases, then I have to do the neckline, waist increases, and raglan shaping all at once, oy.
