6. “Teenagers” by My Chemical Romance
7. “I Only Want to Be With You” by Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies
8. “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance
9. “London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines” by Panic! at the Disco
10. “In Time” by Mark Collie

There ya go. I’m going to have the second half of Christmas with my Mom’s side of the Family today, and when I get home I’ll post pictures of the other spinning I’ve been doing. Adios!

Spin! Spin! Spin!

December 29, 2006 at 10:57 pm | Posted in General Knitting | 3 Comments

Me and my little wheel (Which needs a name, any ideas?) have been spinning and spinning and spinning. So far, I’ve spun up 4 different yarns. I have 2 to show you today, and tomorrow I can show you the other 2, once they finish drying. Here we have the first yarn I’ve ever spun on my new wheel:

Roving: Lisa Souza Superfine Superwash Merino Top Rovingin “Mardi Gras”
Ounces: 4
Yardage: Approx. 165 yards
2 ply, Light Worsted Weight

Love it Love it Love it. The colors are so pretty. I think this will become a hat for me.

Next up, I had myself a little lesson in Plying:

I was always a little upset about how my plying looked, it looked loose and just… not like everyone else’s I’ve seen. So, I tried spinning my singles much tighter than I have been, and guess what, It worked (as you can see in the picture above). This makes me very happy, that it was such a simple fix, and that there is something wrong with me or something. Oh, have I shown you this yet?

That, my friends, is what I have been told is the “Cadillac” of the Niddy Noddy‘s. It was so funny. My mom gave my grandma ideas for what to give me for Christmas, so she ordered me this. When I opened my gift, it was 2 pieces of wood and a couple screws, and I had no idea what the heck it was. So, I asked my grandma, and she just kinda looked and me. Then I asked my mom, and no one could tell me what It was, until my grandma said “I think it’s called a Niddy-Noddy?”. OOOOooooooooooohhhh, then I knew what it was, but I had only seen those PVC pipe ones. My grandma said she was going to order one of the cheapy PVC pipe ones, but they where out of stock, and the guy said that this one was the top of the line. It’s called a Dolphin Niddy Noddy. I love it, it’s very cool.

So, come back tomorrow and I’ll have more handspun to show ya.

Merry Christmas to me!

So, I’m home from my Christmas trip… Well, I actually got home yesterday. I had a great trip.

Look what my mom and dad gave me for Christmas:

Yay! A spinning wheel of my very own! The other one I was using was borrowed, and it was pretty old. But, this one is brand new, and it’s all mine! It’s an Ashford Kiwi, and so far, I love it. Aint it cute? I filled up a bobbin already, but I have a problem:

I can’t figure out how to get the bobbin off. The instruction booklet I got wasn’t for this specific wheel, and it was already assembled when I got it, so I don’t know how to get it off. Can anyone help me? Anyone know how? I’ll keep fiddling with it and see If I can do it, but If you know how, please let me know.

Edited to Add: Never mind! My dad helped me figure it out. I’m off to go spin!

Howdy!

Well, I’m in Texas now. Austin, specifically. The flight(s) where pretty good, you know how it is, Flying just sucks. But, we’re all here and stuff is bueno. I’ve had tons of fun, and it’s only my first day. So far I’ve Taken a picture with a Longhorn:

And went to the famous “Amy’s Ice Cream”. So, the ice cream guy told me that if I caught my ice cream when he tossed it, then it was free. So, Click Here:

Dude, I was so afraid that I wasnt gonna catch it and end up with Ice cream on my head. But, I did. Oh, that person screaming in the background of my video wasn’t me, it was my cousin. After Ice Cream, we went to a local yarn store, Hill Country Weavers. The store was crazy, so much yarn. There was a bunch of stuff I had never seen before, and it was packed wall to wall to wall to wall. I got this:

1 skein of Koigu KPPM, and a ball of some Ella Rae “Amity”. I had never heard of this yarn before, it reminds me a lot of Plymouth Encore. I bought it because it was cheap, and I loved the color. I’ll make a scarf or something.

Ok, I’ll check in again soon with more news of our fun escapades. Adios!

Merry Christmas To All!

December 20, 2006 at 3:23 am | Posted in General Knitting | 7 Comments

Hello my blog buddies. So, I’m leaving for Texas for Christmas on Friday, so I think this will be my last post before Christmas. I’ll most likey be able to post while I’m there, so look out for Christmas-y pictures coming soon.

Oh, and i found me a sock swap partner, Marion, one of my favorite blog buddies. I got started on her socks today, and am already about half done with one of them!

Tomorrow, I have my last final, for History. Blech, it shouldn’t be very fun, but oh well. I gotta do it, so I might as well Suck it up. Then laundry and packing and craziness will go down in the Casa de Kaity. So, If I don’t get to tell you before Christmas Day:

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men”

6 Weird Things… and another Hat.

December 17, 2006 at 11:14 pm | Posted in Blah Blah Blah, General Knitting | 9 Comments

The 6 Weird Things Meme!

THE RULES: “Each player of this game starts with the ‘6 weird things about you.’ People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says ‘you are tagged’ in their comments and tell them to read your blog.”

Well, I actually didn’t get tagged by anyone, but this looked like fun. So…

1. I don’t know if I’ve posted about this or anything, but I am extremely afraid of large bodies of water. Like the ocean, or a lake, or whatever. I would never go swimming in a lake, and when I go to the beach, I only go in the water to about my knees. It really freaks me out. My worst nightmare, being stranded in the middle of an ocean or something like that. Ugh….. *shudder*

2. I believe that pajama pants and Sweats are not proper pants, and I hate it when I see people wearing them to school or the mall or something like that. Sweats should be for bed, or lounging around at home. I would never wear sweat pants in public. (Sorry if any of you guys do that, but seriously, you can’t take the time to put on a pair of Jeans?!)

3. I was born with a dislocated hip, and had to spend the first 6 months of my life wearing a brace. I looked like I had frog legs.

4. I’m 18 years old and have yet to get my learners permit to drive. Up until now, I haven’t really needed one, I mean, my town is small. But now that I have to travel everyday to school, I think next semester I’m gonna learn (finally)

5. I’m still scared of the dark. Like Rebekah, If I’m the last one downstairs at night, I have to RUN upstairs and jump into bed (which is hard to do, since I sleep on the top bunk).

6. I hate my generation. Well, not my generation really, just the ideals and standards that are associated with it. All these stupid movies are coming out that are ruining the definition of our generation for the rest of us. People have no freakin dignity, no ethics, or moral values anymore. I mean, really. And you know what? It’s only gonna get worse, unless it circles back around and modesty is back in style.

Ok, enough of that. I’m not tagging anyone, except my mom. So, mom, get to it!

And you wanna see a hat that I made for my Uncle’s Birthday? Ok, here you go:

Made from 1 ball of Cascade 220 my mom pulled out of her stash, and a Size H-8 crochet hook. I made up the pattern, but I really like the way it turned out. I might need to make me one.

Hrm…

I’m in one of those moods. You know the kind (Or maybe you don’t and I’m just a freak?).

That mood where you don’t want to really knit. I have no inspiration. I’ve been crocheting a bit lately and have a couple hats to show you, but that’s about it.

After finishing up my Christmas Knitting and a sock that has been lingering on my needles for a while, I am left with nothing to work on, really. Strange, that never happens to me. I’m in a hat kinda mood, I wanna knit a funky hat, but I have no inspiration to design one and I can’t find a pattern I like well enough.

Maybe I’ll just go grab a skein of something and some needles and see what I get.

4 FO’s (Whoa)

December 14, 2006 at 7:08 pm | Posted in General Knitting | 7 Comments

That’s right, you heard me, 4 FO’s. First Up, the lovely Multidirectional Scarf:

This was such a fast and fun knit. It took me only about 3 days.
Yarn: Noro Kureyon, 2 skeins (I don’t know the color number, but If you really need to know, I could probably figure it out for you.)
Needles: US Size 10.5, knit flat on Circular needle.
Pattern: Multidirectional Scarf

FO # 2: Wristwarmers (For a Gift)

Yeah, so I lied when I said I was done with Christmas Gifts, turns out, I still had 2 more to go. These for a Secret Santa thing, and the Camo Hat below. NOW I’m officially done.
Pattern: Punk Crochet Wristwarmers (No Bobbles)
Hook Size: US Size H-8
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Worsted

These are really fast and easy to make, I hope the person I’m giving them too loves them as much as I do!

FO #3: Le Slouch

Pattern: Le’ Slouch
Yarn: Manos Del Uruguay, 1 skein
Needles: US Size 9 16″ Circular, US Size 8 & 9 Double Pointed Needles

This One is for me! I love this hat. I do wish it where a little more Slouchier, but oh well, Next time. I will definitely make another.

And Last but Not Least, FO #4, the Camoflage Hat

My very last Christmas gift. I made this had to a friend, this one’s for a boy. I think I need to make myself one, because I really like it!

Yarn: Bernat Camoflage, 1 ball.
Hook Size: US Size H-8
Pattern: I kinda made it up as I went.

Today, I have no school. Classes for this semester ended yesterday, and next week I have finals. They shouldn’t be too bad, so I think I’m Okay. This semester I took Intermediate Algebra (I already knew how to do everything in this class, so this class really sucked.), US History, Child Development, and Psychology 1. Next semester, I’m signed up to take World History, Cultural Anthropology, Race and Ethnic Group Relations, and US Government. Wow, they all sound so boring. Next semester is gonna suck! But, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Okay, I’m off to find me something to work on. Have a swell day!
